UITT, the 23rd Ukraine International Travel and Tourism exhibition, which took place in Kyiv from 29 – 31 March 2017, once again confirmed its status as Ukraine’s leading travel and tourism exhibition.

With an ever-expanding line-up of exhibitors offering new and undiscovered destinations as well as old favourites, this year’s event was more lively and vibrant than ever. The exhibition brings together key players in Ukraine’s domestic and outbound travel markets on the eve of the new summer tourist season.

As per tradition, UITT 2017 took place with support from the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and the Department of Tourism and Resorts of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine.

Ukraine Travel and Tourism 2017 saw:
 

  • 318 exhibitors
  • 30 countries and tourist destinations
  • 19,402 tourism professionals (an increase of 21% compared to 2016)
  • a 20% larger exhibition space
  • 30 Ukrainian cities and regions
     

Bulgaria, Hungary, Georgia, Dominican Republic, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Spain, Italy, Catalonia, Cyprus, Malta, Palestine, Poland, USA, Tanzania, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, Montenegro and others had their own areas. New countries included Albania, Belarus, Lithuania, while companies from Greece, Israel, Cuba, Morocco, Slovakia and Sri Lanka returned.
 

The increased number of national and regional stands were of particular interest to visitors, including 30 Ukrainian cities and regions.
 

Major market players feature among exhibitors: Coral Travel, TUI, Anex Tour, Natalie Tours, Pac Group, Amadeus, Oasis Travel, Mouzenidis Travel, Feeria, Elita Tour, Caravan Lux Tour, Vitiana, It-Tour as well as Join UP!, which returned to UITT 2017 after a three-year break.

 


BUSINESS PROGRAMME:
 

As usual, UITT 2017's business programme was jam-packed with seminars, conferences, and discussions with tourism industry figures.
 

The Ukrainian Adventure and Ecotourism Association organised a conference on Apitourism – a new way to develope Ukraine's rural areas. The event brought together business people planning to invest in the development of rural tourism and tourists looking to escape bustling cities and all-inclusive offers. The association emphasised the development of rural tourism as a promising areas of domestic tourism.
 

On the eve of the summer season, conference from the Department of Tourism and Resorts of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine, URFGR and Intercity on the topic: Opportunities for optimising rail travel was no less urgent. Leading specialists shared trends and ideas and plans for optimising rail travel in Ukraine.
 

On the final day, the Department of Tourism and Resorts of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade held a conference on the Year of Sustainable Tourism in Ukraine, a key initiative for developing tourism as the main component in fostering mutual understanding, perceiving the values ​​of different cultures and its key role for consolidation of peace. The Department's initiative was supported by Ukrainian public organisations engaged in developing and promoting tourism in Ukraine.

For the first time new service Go to UITT was launched, this service unites exhibition visitors from all regions of Ukraine for a joint and comfortable trip. On the Go to platform there were organised trips from 4 cities of Ukraine: Lutsk, Odessa, Ternopol, and Khmelnitsky.
 

A new UITT mobile app was developed for iOS and Android smartphones and tablets, enabling visitors to plan their meetings and business programme events in advance.

UITT 2017 provided an opportunity for exhibitors to present their product, new proposals and directions, to analyze the changes in the tourist field, to feel the pulse of the tourism industry and to coordinate their positions, to check themselves on conformity to priorities and trends, to economic sustainability, to competence in the circle of other professionals of tourist business.
